We
begin with each new patient by performing a thorough health
consultation and examination to determine the underlying
health concerns and problems. If necessary, we will send you
out for X-rays in order to properly visualize the specific
problems in your spine. If your problem is severe or
concerning, then Dr. Block will make that determination and
refer you to another healthcare provider for further
evaluation.
Services in our office include:
Chiropractic Adjustments
Chiropractic adjustments address the
specific segments of your spine that have lost their
range of motion or have become misaligned. This is
usually due to tight muscles that pull on the spine.
Gentle pressure is placed on the vertebrae to restore
the proper range of motion and to properly align the
spine. Chiropractic adjustments do not hurt and many
patients report a decrease in pain immediately after an
adjustment.
Geriatric
Care
As the body ages, it is important to
keep it moving! Chiropractic adjustments will help in
decreasing aches and pains associated with tight muscles
and/or osteoarthritis throughout the body. Regular
chiropractic care will allow your body to age much more
gracefully and will allow you to continue doing
everything that you enjoy doing.
Accident Care
If you’ve been in a car accident,
chances are you have noticed new symptoms or an increase
in pain that was felt prior to the accident.
Chiropractic care is helpful in relieving pain
associated with whiplash and muscle sprain/strain due to
a car accident. After reporting the accident to Dr.
Block or Dr. McDonald, they will perform a detailed exam
to determine which areas have been affected by the
accident and they will then decide on a treatment plan
to best address your symptoms.
Decompression
The Flexion/Distraction table is a
specific table that is used to address lower back pain
and tension. By slowly flexing the lumbar spine
repeatedly, the muscles throughout the lumbar spine are
stretched out and are then able to relax. This motion
also helps to decrease pressure on the nerves that are
exiting the lumbar spine. The Flexion/Distraction table
is specifically helpful in relieving sciatic pain or
pain associated with a herniated disc.
Electrical Stimulation
Electrodes are placed on the area of
complaint and a small electrical current stimulates the
sore muscles. This helps in both decreasing muscle spasm
and pain. It may be recommended that you use this
therapy after your adjustment and it is possible to get
a portable electrical stimulation unit (called a TENS
unit) for at home use.
Hydro-Massage
The hydro-massage table is a table
filled with water. Jets in the table move the water
around and massage the spine as you lie on the table. We
often recommend this to patients before or after an
adjustment.
Cervical
Traction
Cervical traction helps in
decreasing pressure that may exist on the nerves that
exit through the cervical spine. In decreasing the
pressure on the spine it also helps in decreasing
muscular tension. This therapy is ideal for treatment of
a disc injury in the neck.
Rehabilitation
Rehabilitation is an integral part of chiropractic care. A chiropractic adjustment is gentle, effective and relaxing. Combining the science of chiropractic with rehabilitation
has been proven to help patients feel better and live more
active lives.
Stretching
Throughout the course of your care,
Dr. Block or Dr. McDonald will teach you stretches that
you can do at home to aid in the healing process. By
stretching regularly at home, muscles stay more relaxed
between treatments. This will help in decreasing your
pain and will also help you to hold the adjustments
longer.
